Job Purpose:
Protects and serves residents, visitors, and employees on the Sycuan Indian Reservation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
Protects reservation residents, visitors, employees and property by patrolling the reservation, responding to service calls and alarms (fire, burglary, panic), traffic collisions, and criminal activity in progress; enforcing federal and state criminal codes and tribal ordinances; assisting injured and sick individuals; assisting motorists; securing buildings and property; escorting money and persons as needed; and assisting other agencies as requested.
Conducts preliminary investigations by responding to calls of criminal activity and accidents; documenting facts and observations according to established procedures, interviewing victims, suspects and witnesses, generating investigative reports; maintaining crime scenes as needed; and directing traffic when appropriate.
Serves the community by proactively policing reservation, building rapport with residents, visitors and employees; developing crime prevention strategies for recommendation to the Tribal Police Chief; initiating crime prevention activities; and participating in efforts to educate the general public in crime deterrence and prevention strategies.
Supervises the performance of police personnel under their command as assigned by the Sergeant.

Education and Experience:
Essential:
U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident alien applied and eligible for citizenship
Minimum 21 years of age at time of application
California driver’s license in good standing
No felony convictions
No misdemeanor convictions which would restrict ability to carry a firearm
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
California P.O.S.T. Basic Academy Certificate or a P.O.S.T Waiver for out of state Police Officer applicants
Three years law enforcement patrol experience with the Sycuan Police Department
Desirable:
College coursework in criminal justice
