Job Purpose:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Repairs or replaces upholstery on tables and chairs on casino floor by receiving work orders, examining furniture frames, upholstery, springs, and webbing to locate defects, removing covering, webbing, padding and/or defective springs, drawing cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches or blueprints, measuring and cutting new covering materials following sketches and design specifications, fitting, installing, and securing material on frames, building furniture up with loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt and/or foam padding, forming smooth rounded surfaces, and attaching fasteners, grommets, buttons, buckles, ornamental trim and other accessories to covers or frames as needed. - 70%
Maintains and organizes inventory by receiving and labeling ordered parts and materials, placing parts and materials on designated shelves, logging and accounting for parts and materials received and used, analyzing logs to determine frequency of use and need for replacement, and keeping track of owners manuals, warranty expiration dates, and service bulletins. - 20%
Maintains safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area, storing tools and materials, repairing or replacing old or broken tools following established procedures, and following established safety standards while using tools. - 10%
Job Specifications:
Education and Experience:
Essential:
5 years upholsterer experience
Desirable:
High School Diploma, High School Certificate of Completion, or G.E.D.
Apprenticeship from an accredited school
Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
Ability to document and track assignments through a shop log or work order system
Ability to read, interpret and apply information from manuals, drawings, schematics and blue-prints
Ability to interact effectively with team members, guests and vendors
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
Ability to read in the English language
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
Ability to operate a sewing machine and/or sew upholstery by hand
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to match and/or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
Ability to grasp, manipulate, and/or assemble very small objects
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, crawl, kneel and reach
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to interact effectively with team members and guests
