Sygnetics is seeking 6 Internal Medicine Physicians to provide Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) job duties at a Government Facility in Minnesota December 1, 2024-November 30, 2025.Schedule : Coverage is required from 4 : 00p.m. 8 : 00a.m., Monday through Friday, including Federal Holidays (24 hours), 24-hour or 48-hour weekend coverage, and any other mutually agreed upon hours. This will include day shifts on holidays, day or evening shifts on weekends, and coverage in Urgent Care on occasion. Must commit to a minimum of three consecutive 16 hour shifts per month.Patient care appointments are not scheduled.Average workload is two patient transfers and three program admissions per tour. Assessment of in-house patients varies in workload but is the primary responsibility of the MOD on duty. MOD tours on evenings, weekends, and holidays to include patient care rounding in the Community Living Center, Residential Rehabilitation Center, and Acute Psych, as necessary On occasion, the heavy workload in the Urgent Care area may necessitate the MOD to assist the UC provider when such assistance does not affect MOD in-house patient care duties.Scope of Care : Physicians shall be responsible for providing Hospital Medicine Physician care, including, but not limited to : Evaluation, Treatment and Management : Physicians shall admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients including : Admission, including history and physical examinationsAppropriate placement within the HospitalEvaluation and treatment, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiographic examinations, and the administration of medications normally considered part of the practice of hospital medicine.Discussion of end of life preferences / advanced care planningConsultations with sub-specialistsTimely and proactive discharge planningCoordination of care with primary care physicianDischarge including ensuring appropriate follow-up is arrangedPerioperative carePhysicians shall provide care to patients in critical / acute care settings. Physicians shall assess,stabilize, and determine the disposition of inpatients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. This includes running code teams and rapid response teams.The core privileges in this specialty include the procedures on the procedures list (below) and such other procedures that are extensions of the same techniques and skills.
