Description Summary:
Responsible for maintaining Sylvan’s Production, Research, and BIO Facilities, process equipment, and mechanical/electrical systems for safe efficient operation. Duties will involve preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced demanding manufacturing environment. May need to work on different shifts based on coverage demands and be available for “On Call” during off hours, weekends, holidays, and able to work alone as well as within a team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Promotes and practices safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times without compromise.
- Uses tools ranging from hand and power tools to precision measuring and alignment instruments and electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance activities to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, utility systems operate efficiently and maximizes equipment uptime.
- Inspects, operates, or tests machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and improve efficiencies.
- Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Knowledge of mechanical power transfer systems such as gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts and couplings.
- Knowledge of 480-volt 3 phase power distribution and Motor Control Center
- Documents all work performed, hours, parts and follow up work on maintenance work orders.
- Handle ordering supplies when required.
- Work with OSHA Safety Professionals in developing and maintaining Safety Programs for Sylvan’s facilities. Explain Program updates to all staff, locations, and document all activities.
Special Skills that are beneficial:
Electrical Knowledge of:
- 120 Volt and 240/480 Volt 3 Phase Electrical Equipment and Distribution Systems
- Control circuits, Motor Starters, Frequency Drives, and Transformers
HVAC&R Knowledge of:
- Commercial Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Systems
Computer:
- Basic knowledge of Email, Word and Excel.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Required:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Preferred:
Successful completion of a Vocational or Trade School program in the field of Electrical and/or Refrigeration. Minimum 5 years of responsible experience in Mechanical equipment maintenance, Electrical, and/or Refrigeration service and repair.
Shift / Schedule: Primarily daylight Monday thru Friday: Depending on needs days and times will need to be flexible.
REQUIRED LICENSES: Valid Pennsylvania Driver License
Additional Licenses / Certifications Preferred: CFC Universal, Electrical
