Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our community by planning, organizing, and overseeing engaging recreational programs. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
- Coordinate recreational therapy sessions that encourage participation and enhance well-being.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate activities into residents' care plans and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Organize special events, outings, and community engagement opportunities to enrich the lives of residents.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
- Train and supervise volunteers or staff involved in activity planning and execution.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Experience in home community care or working within nursing homes is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and practices.
- Familiarity with the needs of individuals with disabilities and experience in long-term care settings.
- Ability to develop engaging programs that promote social interaction and personal fulfillment.
- Background in social work or related fields is a plus.
