Activities Director

Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our community by planning, organizing, and overseeing engaging recreational programs. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate with residents, staff, and families while fostering an inclusive environment that promotes social interaction and personal growth. The Activities Director will work closely with individuals with disabilities and those in assisted living or nursing home settings, ensuring that all activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
• Coordinate recreational therapy sessions that encourage participation and enhance well-being.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate activities into residents' care plans and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Organize special events, outings, and community engagement opportunities to enrich the lives of residents.
• Maintain accurate records of participation and feedback to continually improve programming.
• Train and supervise volunteers or staff involved in activity planning and execution.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to care.

Skills

• Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff.
• Experience in home community care or working within nursing homes is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and practices.
• Familiarity with the needs of individuals with disabilities and experience in long-term care settings.
• Ability to develop engaging programs that promote social interaction and personal fulfillment.
• Background in social work or related fields is a plus.
• Compassionate approach to care, demonstrating empathy towards residents' diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Rotating weekends
