Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Tutor to join our team and provide personalized education and support for children with special needs. The ideal candidate should have experience working with children who have various learning challenges and possess a patient and understanding demeanor. As a Special Needs Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping these children achieve their academic and developmental goals. This position will also apply to tutoring typically abled students of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized lesson plans and learning strategies based on each student's unique needs and learning style.
- Provide one-on-one or 3:1 tutoring sessions focusing on academic subjects and/or life skills as required.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning abilities and preferences.
- Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages students to feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.
- Monitor progress and assess students' strengths and weaknesses regularly to track their development.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and teachers to coordinate learning strategies and provide updates on students' progress.
- Use a variety of tools and techniques, including assistive technology, to enhance the learning experience for special needs children.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with special needs children, particularly in an educational setting.
- Ability to read and interpret an IEP.
- Knowing how to employ manipulatives as a teaching aid.
- Understanding of various learning disabilities and challenges, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and other team members.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs and maintain a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere.

Hours of instruction:
We are looking for instructors to teach M-Friday after school and Saturdays 9 – 3 pm. You do not have to be available all hours to apply.
