What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Curriculum Writers, K-12 ELA and Mathematics position at Sylvan Learning?
We are seeking talented English Language Arts and/or Mathematics content writers and content editors with experience in K-12 education to create and/or edit engaging and age-appropriate educational materials for students. The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of ELA and Mathematics standards and be able to produce robust lesson content that meets specific educational objectives. You should be able to adapt your writing style to different grade levels and learning objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and/or content edit curriculum materials, including a mix of guided, scaffolded instruction and independent work
- Work within a custom content management system (training provided)
- Use an integrated AI tool to generate and edit custom scripts and audio to make content more engaging and interactive for students
- Evaluate and revise curriculum materials in the content management system
- Review the Student View of each lesson to ensure that it renders in a way that fosters engagement and growth
- Work independently and within tight deadlines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field
- Proven experience in curriculum development or instructional design
- Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and learning theories
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning tools
- Creative thinking and adaptability in curriculum design
- Commitment to fostering effective and engaging learning experiences
- For ELA content: Knowledge of science of reading principles and application to curriculum design
