We are looking for skilled CMA's (Certified Medication Aide) to become part of our facility's compassionate care-giving team! The CMA will support the community by ensuring residents are well cared for and receive accurate medications as ordered by the physician/physician extender in accordance with established nursing standards, standards of medication aide practices, state and federal requirements, and guidelines of the community related to medication administration.

- Schedule: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities
- Obtain report from licensed nurse/CMA being relieved and record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
- Administer medications to residents in an accurate, timely manner to include, but not limited to, correct resident/correct medication/correct dose/correct route/correct time.
- Observe residents for effectiveness of drug therapy and occurrence of adverse effects. Report immediately to licensed nurse.
- Document resident cares related to medication administration, related monitoring, and report to the licensed nurse any occurrence of observed adverse effects/change in resident's condition.
- Notify licensed nurse of observed changes in residents’ conditions, medication errors, medication not available, and any other observations.
- Perform duties of Certified Nurse Aide as assigned.
- Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and his/her comprehensive assessment as assigned.
- Participate in Community education programs.
- Promptly report observed changes in residents’ conditions to the licensed nurse.
- Respond to residents’ call for assistance promptly.
- Verify accuracy of narcotic count; check emergency kit and exchange keys.
- Obtain in-service hours required.
- Observe infection control procedures.
- Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Certified Medication Aide in the State of Texas (Required)
- CPR certification (Required)
- Reliable transportation
- Enjoy working in a skilled nursing facility setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
- Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
- Prior experience in a healthcare environment (minimum of 1 year); preferably in long term care
- Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
