Medical Records Clerk
The Job
To maintain resident medical records and health information systems in accordance with current federal and state guidelines as well as in accordance with ML Healthcare’s established facility privacy policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing, planning, and directing the medical records department in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility, to
- ensure that medical records are properly maintained.
- Assist in recording all incidents / accidents.
File in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Retrieve resident records (manually / electronically).
Deliver as necessary.
- File information such as nurses’ notes, resident assessments, progress notes, laboratory reports, x-ray results, correspondence, etc.
- into resident charts.
- Collect, assemble, check and file resident charts as required.
- Assist MDS Coordinator in scheduling assessments in accordance with current facility and OBRA guidelines.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Previous medical records experience (Preferred)
- Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute and use dictation equipment.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, coding, and indexing preferred but not required.
- Proficient in the use of computer systems (Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record system, etc.)
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, vendors, and the general public.
- Must possess the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must possess the ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to the Company.
- Must be in good standing with the Federal and State Government
