Basic Functions
Performs all functions of a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) while also assisting the Community by transporting residents (patients) between the facility and resident appointments or sanctioned resident outings.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to ensure patient rights are protected.
- Performs all duties as designated by the applicable Certified Nurse Aide and/or Certified Medication Aide job description(s).
- Provides exceptional customer service in transporting passengers with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities.
- Assist passengers as required including proper wheelchair securement.
- Accompany residents to, during, and from appointments
- Assist residents during transportation and at appointments
- Toilet and/or feed residents as necessary at appointments
- Assist with transfers
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow all policies and procedures in place for operating the Community/Facility van and the transport of residents.
- Maintain all required safety training and in-services as required by nursing and maintenance departments.
Exposure Risk
HIGH - The Transportation Aide is at high risk for exposure to blood and body fluids. May be exposed to infectious wastes, diseases or other conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. (REQUIRED)
- Valid TEXAS Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Certification. (REQUIRED)
- Must possess 2 years of relevant experience in a long-term care facility. (REQUIRED)
- Valid Texas Driver's License and a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). (REQUIRED)
- Valid Vehicle Liability Insurance. (REQUIRED)
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with physical capability to perform job-related duties
- Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
- Willingness to enforce health and safety standards
