What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer - Operations position at Symmetry Laser?
This position will play a central role in establishing and improving efficiencies in the laser manufacturing of life-saving medical device components. As a manufacturing engineer in operations, the role will be the initiation and follow through of all projects getting manufactured. Additional focus areas may include process development, project planning and management, operator training, programming, process validation, manufacturing performance metrics, process documentation, and quality documentation. You’ll collaborate with a fun and close-knit agile team to architect, implement, test, and continuously deliver new improvements to enable our customers to develop transformative devices at a record pace. Job title negotiable to reflect the level of prior related experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Review and breakdown job cost baselines for parts based on customer prints.
- Convert quotes to work orders to be manufactured.
- Strategic sourcing of materials for jobs based on customer needs and internal needs.
- Discuss projects and project planning with customers
- Work across all departments to identify vital features and process improvements.
- Improve internal processes and automation to scale order volume
- Programming of proprietary laser machines to produce lifesaving, medical device components.
- Solving complex manufacturing problems using a variety of engineering tools and resources
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
- 1 – 2 years of practical hands-on engineering experience via prior work experience
- Thrive in a highly collaborative environment where everyone has something to learn from everyone else.
- Ability to read and analyze technical prints.
- Aptitude for hands-on application of engineering skills.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours.
- Self-starter and ability to work under minimal supervision
- Able to manage time and be flexible with quick paced projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in laser processing or high-volume manufacturing
- Experience in project estimating and project time management
- ISO 9001/ISO 13485 experience preferred but not required
- FileMaker Database experience
- Familiarity with G-Code
Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
