This position provides dedicated consulting support to a large retailer. You will lead client initiatives related to customer-centric retailing and leveraging customer insight for decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess both a consulting and analytic background that enables them to derive actionable insights and drive engagement with category leadership teams. S/he should be a self-starter who is prepared to execute against a strategic plan to consistently deliver on targets and see tasks through to execution.
In this client-facing role, you will serve as the customer insight champion, working daily with category and retailer leadership. As a key member of the retail team, your support will include utilizing SymphonyAI tools. The ability to generate insights and partner with the retailer to drive value from those insights is vital to the success of the role. This person must be a proficient communicator who can work independently and with groups to achieve optimal performance.

What You’ll Do
- Support client objectives to improve their overall business by driving customer loyalty and sales
- Coach merchant teams to use customer insight in their day-to-day decision-making
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations backed by a fact-base
- Utilize BI tools including Symphony reports to help answer retailer business questions
- Partner with internal and external CPG-focused groups on key initiatives
- Train clients on the use of SymphonyAI tools and insights
- Support all key business strategies as identified by the client
- Participate in key cross-functional projects that cut across retail team(s)
- Participate in the development of best practices, training, and reference materials
- Contribute to quality control and validation of all reporting and troubleshooting data and software issues as needed
- Actively participate in and assist with preparations for team and client meetings as requested
- At least 2 years of experience working across merchandising / category management (assortment, pricing, promotion, placement), either from a management consulting or retailer standpoint
- Experience leveraging data and analytics for category management / merchandising decision making
- Strong analytics aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience successfully influencing clients
- Prior experience from a top tier management consulting firm working with a grocery retailer
- Familiarity with SQL & BI applications
- High technical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated drive and initiative
- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented work environment
