POSITION SUMMARY
The Infection Preventionist will work under the supervision of the Director of Risk Management and Infection Prevention and with medical oversight provided by the Chief Medical Officer.
QUALIFICATION
- EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, science, or an allied health-related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
- Knowledge of regulatory codes, legal requirements and health care law. Experience planning, implementing and evaluating programs. Familiar with hospital operations. Ability to interface with physicians, patients and all levels of hospital personnel. Infection control knowledge; previous managerial experience; clinical skills; data analysis; public speaking; adult education; familiarity with management information systems and keyboarding skills.
- Two or more years of recent clinical experience in an acute-care setting as an RN, medical technologist, epidemiologist and/or an advanced degree in public health or a related healthcare field.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements required: Massachusetts Department of Health, OSHA, CDC and APIC guidelines.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) including experience with NHSN and working knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques
- Previous experience in Infection Prevention and Control preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
- RN preferred
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC), or required to obtain within 2 years
