POSITION SUMMARY

The Nutrition Care Assistant/Supervisor performs patient care nutritional activities and food service supervisory functions. These include assisting in the screening of patients for nutritional risk and/or need for diet teaching. Under the direction of the Dietitian, provides diet education to patients and/or spouse (significant other). Oversees the proper administration of all diets; prepares and checks menus, meal counts, nourishment tallies, and calorie counts, and supervises tray preparation according to diets. Supervises food and nutrition services employees to ensure food safety, prepares patient nourishment and performs QA/I projects and audits as required. Interacts with other health care professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, etc.), as appropriate, to aide with the patient's nutritional care.

High school graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:

One year experiences as a nutrition supervisor preferred but not mandatory.

Word processing skills helpful.

Food Service Safe Certificate required within 6 months of hire.
