NOC Voice Technician I

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Voice Technician I, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining telephony services over data networks based on various technologies and complexity levels. Duties include providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support. In addition, this position requires the ability to listen and effectively communicate information to customers and vendors, deliver customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner, train peers, work independently and as a member of a team, and maintain cooperative work relationships. On-call rotation participation and occasional after-hours work will also be required.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Network Troubleshooting/Maintenance
• Customer Voice Support
• Equipment Upgrades
• Perform duties within on-call rotation
• Keep supervisor updated on major areas of responsibility
• Train Peers when needed
• Complete projects in a timely manner
• Proactively identify negative network conditions when possible and communicate to supervisor
• Maintain knowledge on current and new applicable technologies
• Maintain cooperative work relationships
• Perform special assignments when needed

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

Candidate/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below or have a combination of education and/or experience deemed equivalent by management.

Education:

• Associate degree in a technical field. (May consider High School diploma with directly applicable VoIP experience)
• Must have advanced understanding of VoIP (including SIP, MGCP, RTP), the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking. Related certifications are a plus.

Experience:

• One year of experience troubleshooting complex data/telephony networks. Experience should be heavily concentrated in VoIP.
• Operational/Troubleshooting experience with Metaswitch equipment is desirable.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Advanced understanding of principles and practices of networking technologies.
• Advanced understanding of VoIP and LAN/WAN protocols
• Ability to work under general supervision independently and in a team environment.
• Maintain cooperative work relationships.
• Good time management and documentation skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to type 45 WPM with 95 % accuracy.
• Advanced computer skill level required.
• Long periods of sitting.
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry, kneel/crawl
• Drive Safely
• Able to supply and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
• Provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
• Ability to maintain balance and climb ladders safely.
• Possess sufficient hand strength and dexterity to safely us industry tools, including sharp tools (knives, scissors, cable clippers, and blades)
• Must also be able to tolerate confined spaces and work well in a stressful environment.

Location:

• Applicant must live and be able to reliably commute from within 45 miles of our home office in Bremen, GA

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call
• Weekends as needed
