Responsibilities
Job Description Summary:Provides assistance with measuring, mixing, counting out, labeling and recording amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders under the direction of a Pharmacist.
Qualifications
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Receives written prescription or refill requests. Ensures and verifies that information is complete and accurate.• Prepacks for the floor bulk medications, fill bottles with prescribed medications and type and affix labels.• Answers telephones, responds to questions or requests. Directs inquires as needed to various departments.• Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs.• Assists facilities/departments by answering basic questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.• Establishes or maintains patient profiles, including lists of medications by individual patients.• Orders, labels, and counts stock of medications, chemicals, or supplies and enters inventory data into computerized pharmacy systems.• Receives and stores incoming supplies, verifies quantities against invoices, checks for outdated medications in current inventory and informs supervisor of stock needs and shortages.• Mix pharmaceutical preparations, according to written prescriptions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS• High School diploma or equivalent• Associate degree preferred.• Pharmacy Technician as required by State regulatory requirements.• One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required.• Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
