Job Description : Role Summary / Purpose : The Assistant Vice President, Principal Software Engineer craves working in a hands-on system design and architecture environment and leads by example to make sure time sensitive projects get done on time and to specifications. To be successful in this role, deep expertise in solution and event-driven architecture, microservice architecture, cloud technologies and the ability to influence and lead a team are musts. This AVP will lead the development and the life cycle management of our consumer bank and credit servicing applications by creating and developing thoughtful solutions to anticipate bugs and maintain operational excellence. Essential Responsibilities : Influence many agile development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle through SAFeImplement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologiesArchitect applications across the full stack, experience in PCF, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful API's are a must.Design data models to support complex business processesDrive a CI / CD strategy using our Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy stack.Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to create amazing apps.Mentor and influence all levels of the team : in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of commandEnsure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by SynchronyAssist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy, along with our application modernization and migration roadmap.Participate in Agile scrums consisting of cross-functional teamsLead Agile sprints as the technical expert, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions, and sprint reviewsEnsure application code quality through development, test, and QAParticipate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolutionAbility to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixesPassionate about the latest technologies, open-source projects and languagesProvide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the yearIdentify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performanceWork with third party vendors to develop software and / or integrate their software into the company's productsPerform other duties and / or special projects as assignedQualifications / Requirements : Bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of experience with software engineering OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma / GED 7 years of experience with software engineering.Minimum 5 years of application development experience.Spring Boot and Spring Cloud development background.Critical Thinking, creativity and problem-solving skillsDesired Characteristics : Experience building and consuming web services via SOAP and RESTExpertise with continuous integration environmentsExperience with writing unit, integration, and UI test casesDeep experience with responsive web design principles and cross device supportStrong experience with Pivotal Cloud FoundryKnowledge in using Splunk for production support.Experience with Database Architecture, Modeling, and familiarity with MySQL & SQLFamiliarity with JSON, REST and XML based web servicesWorking knowledge of the overall mobile industryExcellence in technical communication with technical and non-technical peersStrong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization and partner with global development companiesDesire to work in a dynamic, fast paced environmentExperience developing and supporting financial / banking applicationsExcellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence clients, team members, management, and external groups.Excellent attention to detail in a team environmentStrong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact, and resolution options.Grade / Level : 11The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.Eligibility Requirements : You must be 18 years or olderYou must have a high school diploma or equivalentYou must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding processYou must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
