The VP, Business Information Architect will be responsible for designing, documenting and driving the creation of curated datasets, data domain taxonomies and ontologies in support of Synchrony’s business, data and analytics strategy. The VP, Business Information Architect will play a pivotal role in facilitating the design of shared information to improve usability, accessibility, and user experience. This individual will report to the SVP, Chief Data Officer.
The VP, Business Information Architect will collaborate with Business and IT Leaders, Data Management process owners, and analytics stakeholders across Synchrony to identify, organize and support the modernization of information supporting analytic processes inclusive of curated data sets.

Essential Responsibilities
The salary range for this position is 170,000.00 - 290,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure that data sets are designed and organized in a way that make them easily accessible and understandable to data consumers
- Ensure that curated data is accessible, useful, and meaningful for the intended applications, such as data analysis, machine learning, or data-driven decision-making
- Partner with engineering and data stakeholders to assess data models and/or support the creation of proprietary logical data models that are fit for purpose to meet the business goals.
- Responsible for ensuring our data and product ontologies comprehensively describe knowledge graphs that are available for machine learning and AI/Inference ingestion.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to translate data requirements from business processes, into information architectural designs for execution by data architects and data engineers.
- Develop data domain driven curated data products
- Leads and consults with other architectural disciplines to influence information disciplines, direction, technical and data flow, and solution agnostic design decisions. Guides peers in developing information architecture skills while maturing and nurturing healthy peer and mentee relationships.
- Document the information architecture and share knowledge with team members to ensure a consistent understanding and application of IA principles across the organization
- Leverage and contribute to Synchrony’s metadata catalog and overall data management control environment
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Create process and design documents, functional specifications, user stories, and other artifacts to describe the intended information architectural design of curated datasets.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree OR, in lieu of degree, a high school diploma/GED and 15 years of project/program management experience
- A minimum of 12 years of experience to include:
- Minimum of 5 years of project and/or program management experience to include working on gathering business need requirements, planning and defining business solutions, and working with the application and infrastructure teams to manage the project through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data modeling and defining conceptual, logical and physical data models
- Minimum 3 years of experience working on data integration, data modeling, data warehousing, big data environments
- Broad understanding of banking, credit card, payment solutions, collections, marketing, risk and regulatory & compliance.
- Experience using data governance and data quality tools such as: Collibra, Ab Initio Express>IT; Ab Initio MetaHub, ER/Studio
- Proficient in writing / understanding SQL.
- Experience querying/analyzing data in cloud-based environments (e.g, AWS, Redshift)
- Experience in architecting and designing technical solutions for cloud-centric solutions based on industry standards using IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS capabilities.
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills including Power Point, Excel, Access, Visio.
- Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple deliverables concurrently often within aggressive timeframes; ability to cope under time pressure.
- Experience in partnering with a diverse team composed of staff and consultants located in multiple locations and time zones.
- Experience in developing and delivering architecture initiatives, roadmaps and blueprints for curated data design and showcased clear business efficiency in line with business strategies with architecture
- Excellent communication skills and customer management skills
- Should be able to deliver architectural initiatives in for digital, cloud, open-source technologies.
- Should have performed a similar role & capacity for large transformational engagements.

Eligibility Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
