As part of the Growth Governance and Excellence organization, the VP, Multilingual Governance, is responsible for overseeing processes primarily conducted in Spanish. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders to provide expertise, insights, and a centralized first-line-of-defense perspective on the program governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and process control objectives.
Reporting to the VP, Multilingual Governance Leader, this individual is responsible for supporting first line of defense governance by providing oversight, guidance, and expertise on process control, process management, related reporting activities, and process documentation related to non-English language communication (with focus on Spanish). This individual must be a strong communicator, work effectively in a matrixed environment, be able to think both strategically and critically, and embrace a culture of change, innovation, compliance, and governance.

Essential Responsibilities
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide support and perform activities for Multilingual Governance requirements in accordance with SYF standards, regulatory expectations and industry best practices
- Provide a centralized view of the Multilingual Governance process controls in place, and support identification of gaps that will facilitate the oversight of controls and risk identification across the function.
- Foster collaborative relationships with various stakeholders across support functions, lines of defense, and client teams.
- Provide support in the creation, and ongoing management, of the Multilingual Governance COE including the risks and controls associated with the Multilingual Governance L3 process
- Review and understand processes related to multilingual governance, specifically for Spanish-language processes and job aids. Clearly identify how these processes tie into Synchrony’s standard practices while ensuring their effectiveness and accountability.
- Develop and monitor KRIs and KPIs related to Multilingual Governance/Spanish and provide an aggregated view of Spanish language management across the company.
- Build and manage team in the execution of governance activities, ensuring adequate cross-functional input, risk identification, control design and signoff.
- Ensure that stakeholders keep adequate documentation in a centralized repository.
- Lead key meetings and own the Multilingual Governance Tollgate.
- Assist with internal and external regulatory inquiries related to Spanish language capabilities.
- Perform other responsibilities and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of a degree. HS Diploma/GED and 8 years of risk management, compliance, and/or direct process management experience in the financial services industry.
- 5 years of professional work experience, preferably in a financial services institution with experience in compliance, risk, audit and/or governance .
- Experience reviewing and drafting risks, controls, policies, procedures, standards, and job aids.
- Experience working with Second and Third lines of defense
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project and time management skills.
- Cross-functional team leadership experience.
- Bilingual: Spanish
- Product development or technology integration experience in the credit card, financial services or technology industries.
- Experience presenting ideas and recommendations to senior level audiences.
- Demonstrated experience working across a matrixed organization.
- Understanding of business systems and processes.
- Goal oriented, self-motivated and ability to work independently with moderate guidance and instruction.
- Strategic and process skills with proven ability to execute.
- Confidence interacting with stakeholders across the business, all lines of defense and levels of management, to include Senior Leadership audiences, as necessary.
- Understanding of key legal requirements/CTCs with particular understanding of Fair Lending and UDAAP
- Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience as an agent of change within a heavily regulated-compliance environment.

Eligibility Requirements
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
