The Role:
The Senior Manager of Financial Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing various financial operations, including equity and Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) administration, census data management, user access review and management, American Express program administration, policy and procedure documentation and insurance oversight. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of financial processes across multiple departments, while maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.

Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000.

Key Responsibilities:
- Equity and ESPP Administration:
- Manage the administration of equity programs, including stock options, restricted stock units (RSUs), and Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of stock grants, vesting schedules, and other equity-related activities.
- Work closely with external equity plan providers to ensure timely and accurate transactions and reporting.
- Assist employees with equity related tasks and questions.
- Insurance Oversight:
- Oversee and manage the company’s insurance programs, including but not limited to general liability, property, and other employee benefits-related insurance.
- Collaborate with brokers and vendors to review policies, assess risks, and ensure adequate coverage.
- Credit Card Program Administration:
- Manage the administration of the American Express corporate card program, including cardholder setup, expense reconciliation, and reporting.
- Oversee the timely and accurate accrual of American Express program-related expenses in alignment with financial reporting requirements.
- Assist employees with credit card related tasks and questions.
- State License and Census Data Management:
- Oversee the collection, review, and maintenance of census data and state business licenses related to Financial statements, employee demographics, compensation, and benefits.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure data integrity and alignment with regulatory requirements.
- User Access Reviews:
- Conduct regular reviews of user access to financial systems and applications, ensuring compliance with company policies, data security standards and Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Collaborate with IT and Security teams to address access issues, audit findings, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Policy and Procedure Documentation:
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for financial operations, ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ensure all financial operations processes are well-documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- User Access Management:
- Ensure proper user access control across various financial systems to prevent unauthorized access and maintain data integrity.
- Implement and enforce access management policies, conduct periodic audits, and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or other relevant certifications
- 5 years of experience in financial operations, equity administration, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of equity programs, ESPP, and financial systems.
- Experience with user access management, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance programs and accrual processes is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with financial software tools, Fidelity Equity Systems, American Express Programs, NetSuite.
- Experience with corporate card programs (e.g., American Express) or other employee benefit programs.
- Familiarity with insurance procurement and risk management.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with documentation and process improvement.
