An established international food manufacturer has expanded its operations to the United States and is seeking a Bilingual Production / Manufacturing Manager to join our dynamic plant management team in Los Angeles, California. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, ensuring production goals and planned efficiencies are consistently met or exceeded.
The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Chinese and possess strong leadership and operational management skills to support the company’s growth in the U.S. market. This position reports directly to the Director of Production and plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence within our facility.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee production and maintenance departments , ensuring streamlined operations.
- Monitor actual versus planned performance of production departments; identify, pursue and implement solutions to problems.
- Assume ultimate responsibility for the quality of the product and workplace, adhering to industry standards.
- Lead the maintenance team to plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Assist maintenance department with scheduling and planning preventative maintenance of the lines
- Monitor and track planned downtime hours and partner with maintenance and QA to minimize downtime and improve efficiency
- Develop production standard operating procedures (SOPs), and be able to train first line production staff. Update SOPs as needed
- Conduct regular meetings to ensure that safety protocols, quality and HR policies including good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed
- Keep up to date on manufacturing process improvement to reduce cost and increase efficiency. Team up with maintenance, QA and R&D to conduct feasibility study for management
- Responsible for new projects, i.e., new product test run, new equipment installation, etc.
- Manage the departmental budget, developing labor projections based on sales, including equipment parts, monitoring labor costs, overtime, and temporary labor. Coordinate with accounting on costing new products and develop cost reductions within the department.
- Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions of department staff and / or contract staff
- Actively participates in Safety initiatives, awareness programs and guidelines to ensure employees and temporary staff are compliant
- Perform other duties as assigned
