Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced AI Risk & Governance Lead with a strong background in AI/ML, Generative AI, Risk Management, Compliance, and Regulatory Frameworks within the banking and financial industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in policy, standards, governance, risk, and controls for AI, along with expertise in NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for AI and regulatory compliance.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC / Atlanta, GA is $150k - $170k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• AI Governance & Risk Management:
• Develop, implement, and manage governance frameworks, policies, and standards for AI/ML and Generative AI models.
• Ensure compliance with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for AI, along with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with AI/ML model lifecycle, bias detection, explainability, and ethical AI practices.
• Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
• Monitor and interpret evolving AI-related regulatory requirements, including OCC, SEC, FINRA, GDPR, and AI governance standards.
• Collaborate with Internal Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management teams to address regulatory issues and ensure adherence to financial regulations.
• Manage and oversee AI model validation, ensuring compliance with Model Risk Management (MRM) and Model Review & Oversight (MRO) guidelines.
• AI Model Risk & Controls:
• Establish and monitor risk controls, ethical AI frameworks, and responsible AI practices across the organization.
• Lead risk assessments for AI/ML models, including bias detection, adversarial robustness, and AI security controls.
• Define governance policies for AI model deployment, monitoring, and accountability in banking applications.
  

Requirements:

You are:

• 10 years of experience in AI, ML, Generative AI, Model Risk Management (MRM), and Model Review & Oversight (MRO).
• 7 years of experience in the banking and financial industry, with a deep understanding of financial regulations.
• 3 years of experience in Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Regulatory Issues Management.
• Prior experience analyzing and implementing NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for AI.
  
  

Technical & Regulatory Expertise:

• Deep knowledge of AI/ML governance, explainability, bias mitigation, and responsible AI frameworks.
• Familiarity with financial regulatory requirements related to AI/ML (e.g., OCC, SEC, FINRA, GDPR, Basel, FFIEC).
• Strong understanding of AI security, encryption, data privacy laws, and risk controls.
