We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced ETL Testing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and integrity of data during the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process. This position requires a strong understanding of data testing methodologies, experience with ETL tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $92k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
- Test Design and Development:
- Create detailed test cases and test scenarios for ETL processes based on business requirements and technical specifications to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Test Execution:
- Execute test cases to validate the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, ensuring alignment with project deliverables.
- Data Validation:
- Perform data validation and reconciliation to confirm consistency between source data and the target data post-ETL processes, identifying and addressing discrepancies.
- Defect Management:
- Identify, document, and report defects, issues, and anomalies within ETL processes. Collaborate closely with development and data engineering teams to facilitate resolution.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with data engineers, ETL developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality throughout the ETL lifecycle.
- Testing Strategy Implementation:
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of ETL testing strategies and best practices aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.
- Automation of Testing:
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for ETL processes to enhance test coverage and streamline testing efforts, reducing manual testing time.
- Performance Testing:
- Conduct performance testing and optimization of ETL processes to ensure they are scalable, efficient, and reliable, identifying potential performance issues and recommending improvements.
- Documentation:
- Document test results, create detailed test plans, and prepare comprehensive test reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging ETL tools, and best practices in data testing to drive continuous improvement in ETL testing processes and methodologies.
- Experience Range: 8 Years
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in ETL testing, data validation, and quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of ETL concepts, data warehousing, and database management.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Apache Nifi).
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data quality and accuracy.
