Our challenge
The Platform Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting and optimizing the Oracle Coherence platform to ensure high availability and performance of distributed caching solutions. This role demands a strong background in both support engineering and Oracle Coherence technology, as well as the ability to collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Minneapolis, MN is $110k - $120k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support for platform-related issues, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Monitor application performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance system stability and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize caching strategies using Oracle Coherence and other caching solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Assist in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements and provide feedback on system performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in software development and support, with a focus on Java applications.
- Strong experience with caching technologies, particularly Oracle Coherence.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving performance issues in distributed systems.
- Understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with other caching frameworks (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
- Knowledge of SQL and experience with database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Java certifications, Oracle certifications) are a plus.
