Our Challenge:
The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, and performance tuning of SQL Server databases. The ideal candidate will have experience in database design, maintenance, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions. The DBA will work closely with development teams to support database applications and ensure optimal performance.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.
In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Dallas, TX is $95k-$105k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Database Installation and Configuration:
- Install and configure SQL Server instances.
- Set up and maintain database environments for development, testing, and production.
- Database Maintenance:
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
- Perform regular database backups and restores.
- Implement and maintain database security policies.
- Performance Tuning:
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Monitor and resolve performance issues through profiling and tuning.
- Backup and Recovery:
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Test and validate recovery procedures.
- Security Management:
- Manage user access and permissions.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and comply with regulations.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
- Set up and maintain high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Clustering, etc.
- Conduct regular tests of recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Database Design and Development:
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database structures.
- Participate in database schema design and data modeling.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Prepare reports on database performance, security, and compliance.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues.
- Provide support for application developers regarding database queries and optimization.
Requirements:
You are:
- Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA or in a similar role.
- Experience with SQL Server versions (e.g., SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in T-SQL and database programming.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
- Knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and database management systems.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administration).
