- The project involves converting a turbine generator into a synchronous condenser. This process includes updating the control systems from physical control panels to a distributed control system (DCS).
- Designer II will play a crucial role in this transformation by working on electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Execution: Assisting in the design and execution of the project, ensuring all electrical connections and controls are accurately represented and functional.
- This role requires familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring, and connection diagrams, and the ability to design, draw, and execute the necessary changes for the project.
- Understanding Existing Schematics: will start by analyzing and understanding the current electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, which are currently in image file format.
- Redrawing Schematics: converting these image files into vector format. This process requires precision and attention to detail to ensure the new schematics accurately represent the existing designs.
- Designing New Schematics: After converting the existing schematics, will design new schematics for the updated control systems. This includes ensuring compatibility with the distributed control system (DCS).
- Overall, the role involves a mix of technical tasks (understanding, redrawing, and designing schematics) and collaborative activities (working with engineers and consultants) to ensure the successful execution of the project.
- Support a team primarily consisting of plant and project engineers
- Targeting candidates with 5-7 years of experience in engineering or electrical fields.
- Open to candidates with less experience if they have a strong understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and the specific requirements of the project.
- Flexibility for less experience if the candidate has a strong understanding of electrical schematics and design.
- AutoCAD and MicroStation: Proficiency in these software tools is essential for redrawing and designing electrical schematics.
- Electrical Aptitude: Strong understanding of electrical concepts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and connection diagrams.
- Motor Control Experience: Experience with motor control systems is beneficial.
- Industrial Background: Experience in industrial settings, particularly with companies like 3M, GE, or other utilities, is valuable.
- Drafting and Designing Experience: Ability to draft and design electrical schematics, including converting image files into vector format and creating new designs for updated control systems.
- Control Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with PLC, TCS, or DCS control systems, as we use DCS for their operations.
- A blend of technical skills, industrial experience, and proficiency in drafting and designing electrical schematics using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, sense of humor.
- A self starter and encompass a proactive mindset.
- Industrial background and experience with motor control.
- Experience from the following types of companies are preferred: Architectural Engineering Firms: Experience from firms specializing in architectural engineering is highly valued.
- Electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and industrial design.
