Job Duties :
The project at our Wheaton facility in Wisconsin involves the installation of a new GE7F gas turbine and five Wärtsilä reciprocating engines.
The project is currently in the foundation phase, with most foundations either completed or nearing completion.
The focus for 2025 will be on mechanical and electrical installations, with major equipment already on site awaiting final foundation work.
The project will transition to commissioning and startup activities in Q3 of 2025.
Mechanical Installation : Erection of the GE7F gas turbine.
Installation of the five Wärtsilä reciprocating engines.
Coordination with electrical installations as they are integral to the mechanical erection process.
Project Phases : Foundation Phase : Completion of remaining foundations.
Mechanical and Electrical Installation : Setting and dressing out major equipment.
Commissioning and Startup : Transitioning to these activities in Q3 of 2025.
Overseeing the mechanical installation of the gas turbine and reciprocating engines.
Ensuring coordination with electrical installations.
Monitoring the progress of foundation completion.
Supervising the setting and dressing out of major equipment.
Facilitating the transition to commissioning and startup activities.
This role is crucial for ensuring the successful mechanical erection and integration of the new equipment at the Wheaton facility.
A blend of technical oversight, coordination, and problem-solving.
Attend a morning meeting with the on-site construction manager and other key personnel to discuss the day's objectives, progress, and any potential issues.
Review the status of ongoing mechanical and electrical installations, focusing on the GE7F gas turbine and Wärtsilä reciprocating engines.
Site Inspection and Oversight : Conduct site inspections to ensure that the installation contractors are adhering to the project specifications and contractual requirements.
Monitor the progress of foundation work and the setting and dressing out of major equipment.
Coordination with Suppliers : Interface with technical representatives from GE and Wärtsilä to address any technical queries or issues that arise.
Ensure that the installation contractors are coordinating effectively with the manufacturers' representatives to facilitate timely resolution of any technical or contractual issues.
Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution : Address any Requests for Information (RFIs) or other issues that arise on-site, ensuring they are resolved promptly to avoid delays.
Work closely with the on-site construction manager to manage day-to-day logistics and ensure smooth project execution.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed records of daily activities, progress, and any issues encountered.
Prepare reports for project management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and any actions taken to resolve issues.
Participate in coordination meetings with the installation contractors and suppliers to review progress and plan for the next steps.
Ensure that all parties are aligned with the project schedule and contractual obligations.
Conduct a final site walk-through to verify that the day's objectives have been met.
Prepare for the next day's activities, ensuring that all necessary resources and information are in place.
This role is crucial for ensuring that the mechanical erection and integration of the new equipment are completed efficiently and in accordance with the project requirements.
Will be interfacing with the GE / Wärtsilä manufacture representatives in addition to the contractors performing the work.
Will also work directly with the onsite construction manager.
Qualifications :
Commissioning and Construction Experience : At least 10 years of commissioning and construction experience, ideally with industrial frame gas turbines or reciprocating engines.
Flexibility : Open to candidates with similar heavy industrial experience, such as in petrochemical refineries or other heavy industrial processes.
Technical and Contract Management Skills : Contract Management : experience managing contracts and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Site Engineering : Hands-on site engineering experience, preferably with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) like GE or Siemens, or with a construction contractor.
Technical Proficiency : Software Skills : Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
Technical Documentation : Familiarity with technical drawings, manuals, and other documentation, primarily in PDF format.
Problem-Solving : Ability to quickly and efficiently resolve technical issues on-site by reaching out to the correct resources and driving solutions to completion.
Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with multiple companies and individuals on-site, including suppliers' technical representatives.
Industry Knowledge : Equipment Familiarity : Experience with industrial frame gas turbines or reciprocating engines is highly preferred.
Heavy Industrial Experience : experience in similar heavy industrial environments will be considered. These skills and qualifications ensure that the candidate can effectively oversee the mechanical erection and integration of new equipment, manage contracts, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at a minimum.
Experience with field Technical Support working for, for GE or Siemens or something like that.
Experience working for manufactures such as GE, Siemens, Wärtsilä.
PE would be nice to have.

It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
