Job Description
- The municipal engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as municipal engineering, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, water supply and project management.
- Develops plans for project, supervising and participating in project design
- Designs and oversees a wide variety of projects related to municipal improvements
- Conducts street designing and street needs studies
- Complete technical analyses of the necessity of new streets, including modifications of existing streets
- Maintain city-wide maps, plans and thoroughfare plan
- Contribute traffic engineering principles to the design of traffic, signals, signs, lights and maintenance
- Maintain databases per project managers' direction
- Research, write and edit technical reports and business correspondence
- Spending time in the field offering engineering support and recommendations
- Field review and/or site visits or field work as required
- Attend project related meetings as required
- Perform all other related duties as assigned
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- FE license (Required) - Continuing education, certifications and training.
- Minimum 3 years of experience required within Municipal engineering
- Knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and techniques including municipal engineering, wastewater treatment, stormwater management and water supply and project management
- Oral and Written Communication
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, journals and government regulations.
- Ability to read reports, business correspondence and present information.
- Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously.
- Awareness of importance to work within constraints of budgets and schedules
- Public Presentation Skills
- Math and Costing aptitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer Literacy to include AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Visual Basic Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Synchro and HCS
