What are the responsibilities and job description for the RFR Engineer position at Synectics Inc?
Job Description
Job Description
Job Overview :
This pivotal role involves supporting researchers and engineers in prototyping and testing HF and VHF RF systems to validate composite antennas.
The successful candidate will need a strong understanding of antenna designs and experience modeling radiation patterns from unconventional antennas.
The job will encompass everything from debugging and characterizing HF to VHF RF power systems and antennas.
Operating and using all types of RF test equipment is a key requirement for this position, as is the ability to tune VHF systems for different frequencies, from strip lines to low-frequency circuits.
The Materials Engineer will play a crucial role in our mission, developing and prototyping new metamaterials using GNTs and CNTs.
This role will involve designing and prototyping new composite antennas and interfacing these antennas with modern HF and VHF power amplifiers.
It will also include modeling these new antennas and systems with MATLAB or COMSOL using Cliford Algebras and other advanced mathematics to model radiation patterns and power transfer from different modes.
Collaborate with researchers and technicians to understand their specific antenna and power system test system requirements.
Develop and implement HF and VHF power systems and their antennas.
Source HF and VHF equipment and test equipment for characterizing composite antennas.
Familiarity with setting up, operating, and maintaining RF antenna systems is essential.
Screening and characterizing different non-conventual composite antennas to determine the internal and external parameters.
Experience designing and debugging thermal emission devices and circuits is a plus for this job.
Providing regular reports on the status of multiple projects is required.
Confirm and verify product performance by designing tests.
Develop quality software and web applications
Analyze and maintain existing software applications
Design highly scalable, testable code
Discover and fix programming bugs
Work Environment : This role is primarily office and electronics lab-based. Our company is a startup with flexible work schedules and variable working roles. It is rapidly growing and offers the potential for rapid advancement for the right individual.
Physical Requirements : The job may involve extended periods of sitting or standing, extensive use of computers, test equipment, phones, and occasional travel.
Qualifications
Electrical Engineering or other STEM degree or equivalent experience is required.
Having an advanced ARRL license is a plus for this position.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
Understanding advanced mathematics beyond the usual vector equations of physics and electrical engineering is needed.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Experience simulating RF circuits using MATLAB or COMSOL is needed for this position.
Industry exposure to RF System design & analysis, preferably spacecraft applications, is a plus.
Designing and troubleshooting antenna and HF and VHF power systems is required.
Development experience with programming languages
SQL database or relational database skills
A self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively with researchers to validate a new mathematical model for radiation.
Familiar with and understand higher mathematics, from Lorentz transformations to Clifford Algebras.
A deep understanding of these mathematical models is not required, but a successful candidate must be willing to learn new mathematical methods not covered in college engineering mathematics.
MATLAB will be used to model new derivations of Maxwell's equations, and a basic understanding of these derivations will be a plus
A solid understanding of the vector equations of electromagnetics is required, and familiarity with electromagnetic gauges and when they are valid is beneficial.
This position will use advanced technologies to break the electromagnetic gauges, and understanding these physical processes is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting skills for antennas and the ability to solve radiation issues are necessary.
