What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Litigation Attorney position at Synectics Inc.?
Responsibilities
- Serving as the lead attorney handling all aspects of commercial litigation.
- Serve as lead attorney in handling all aspects of commercial litigation matters as well as supervision of litigation teams in complex matters.
- Manage the entire legal process, from the investigation and discovery stages through trial prep and trial or final hearing.
- Work cases through, including taking depositions, oral arguments and hearing attendance, negotiating settlements, reporting to clients, etc.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, trials and arbitrations.
- Research applicable laws and findings to develop appropriate legal strategies.
- Examine and optimize the use of video, documentary, and physical evidence.
- Take depositions and respond to discovery requests.
- Draft legal documents incident to litigation matters, including pleadings, contracts, and agreements.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.
- Track and timely and accurately submit billable hours.
- Preparation of detailed case reports and summaries.
- Candidate must be able to work independently with strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize.
- Juris Doctor (J.D) degree.
- Admission to the Texas State Bar.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in legal research and writing.
- First chair trial/final hearing experience in multiple trials and/or arbitrations.
- A Lateral Senior Attorney or Lateral Shareholder with less than 7-10 years of experience, a book of business, and the ability to handle both existing and new litigation matters.
- To be successful, possessing skills and attributes necessary to work within a team, think independently, and have personal skills to interface with clients, opposing counsel and the judiciary is necessary. (This position is on site.)
