Job Description
- Our client is looking for a highly motivated candidate with a minimum of four years of on the job experience in the structural design industry.
- Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on all aspects of structural design for a variety of project types including custom single family homes, institutional buildings, multi-family housing, small commercial buildings, and building restoration.
- Practical design experience in the design of all building materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood is required.
- Candidates will be offered the opportunity to expand upon their Engineering toolbox, experience, and communication skills.
- The primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Completing analysis and design of the structural system, including the gravity and lateral force resisting systems as well as foundations for building projects.
- Communicating with clients and contractors to ensure the expectations of all are met.
- Performing site visits to document existing conditions or administer construction phase services.
- Preparing construction documents in AutoCAD or redlines to be used by others to create the structural construction documents.
- Communicating with senior staff to ensure work is completed on time and within project budgets.
- Following the design guidelines set forth by Innovative Structural Engineers.
- Bachelor of Architectural Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
- E.I.T. is required, P.E. is preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience both in designing buildings and designing with the building materials listed above.
- Familiarity with building codes and materials standards (e.g. IBC, IRC, AISC, NDS, ASCE, ACI).
- Extensive working knowledge of AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of RISA, Enercalc, and BlueBeam Revu.
