What are the responsibilities and job description for the Air Compressor Field Service Technician position at Synerfac Technical Staffing?
Keyport NJ company within the compressed air industry for more than 25 years is looking to hire an experienced Air Compressor Field Service Technician for the tri-state area. This self-sufficient and self-motivated person will perform a wide variety of field service duties, including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and rebuilding compressed air and compressed natural gas systems. Travel in company supplied vehicle to customer sites is required.Essential Functions of the job will include but are not limited to :
- Diagnose mechanical and / or electrical problems and make repairs on-site or in the shop as required.
- Rebuild and repair compressors and related equipment. Inspect equipment, checking tolerances and wear specifications. Look up parts and determine materials / procedures needed to rebuild or repair units and notify management. Clean and recondition parts as needed, utilizing established method and procedures.
- Reassemble units with new or reconditioned parts. Test rebuilt / repaired units, making necessary adjustments to satisfy operating specifications. Clean, prep and paint finished units, as required. Apply all necessary tags and documentation to completed units.
- Build strong customer relations and rebuild / strengthen weak ones through strong technical skills, communication skills, and emitting a positive and professional attitude.
- Recommend needed spare parts to customers.
- Be proficient in the use of all necessary hand tools, shop equipment and positioning equipment (cranes, hoists, forklifts, etc.) utilizing proper safety procedures.
- Maintain technical proficiency utilizing all current bulletins, manuals and service schools.
- Drive service truck, as required to make service calls and complete assigned jobs. Follow all rules, regulations and laws when operating the vehicle on public roads. Maintain vehicle in a clean and orderly condition. Wear safety belts at all times while operating a company vehicle. Notify management in a timely manner of any needed repairs to the assigned vehicle.
- Maintain and accurately complete all work orders, warranty forms, preventative maintenance forms, and other required paperwork. Submits all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Represent company in a professional manor. Present a clean and neat appearance when representing company at a customer's facility and promote customer relations.
- Be available for twenty-four hour call on a regularly rotated basis, approximately one week, every seven weeks.
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop and individual work area. Conform to all federal, state and company safety regulations, including those related to various chemicals in use at customers' locations.
- Participate in and contribute to the Quality Process, Making "zero defects" the only acceptable performance.
- Perform all other similar or related work assignments as assigned or instructed by management.Requirements :
- At least 2 years" experience in same or similar position. Complete understanding of compressed air systems.
- Strong Industrial Mechanical Skills
- Valid Driver's License and Safe driving record.
- Understanding of basic motor control / starter systems and troubleshooting.
- Must own applicable, related "tools of the trade".
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to be "on-call" and travel to customer sites as required.
- Ability to understand and follow safety regulations.
