Summary : A leading forensic engineering firm is seeking an experienced Building and Fire Code Consultant in Boston, MA in their Building Environmental Solutions (BES) division. This company provides consulting, engineering, and construction management services to clients globally. The position is responsible for providing expert consultation to clients on building, fire safety, plumbing, energy efficiency, and accessibility codes.Responsibilities :
- Provide code-related consulting services to clients in the architecture, real estate investment & management, and building engineering industries.
- Providing code analysis and interpretation.
- Draft memos to address code issues.
- Meet with local officials and fire departments on behalf of clients.
- Review proposed project designs, including evaluating plans for egress, life safety, fire safety, accessibility, and plumbing compliance.
- Prepare reports detailing applicable code requirements and assessing whether the project aligns with these requirements.
- Conduct zoning reviews of proposed developments.
- Conduct on-site building inspections to ensure compliance with building, fire, accessibility, and plumbing codes.
- Prepare survey reports that outline findings and recommend corrective actions for any non-compliant conditions.
- Work closely with project teams to devise solutions for design and construction challenges where full code compliance may not be feasible.
- Draft and submit requests for code variances to state-level boards to support proposed design modifications.Qualifications :
- EIT Certified with ability to take PE exams this year
- BS in Engineering or Architecture required.
- 5 years experience in architecture, construction, or building engineering industries.
- Valid Driver's License required. Preferred :
- Previous knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes is preferred.
- Previous experience in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction, or Fire Protection is preferred.
