Overview of the position
Programmers are responsible for creating programs on the computer that go into machines to run parts efficiently and effectively.
Primary duties of the position :
Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates
Develop programs on Mastercam for CNC machining centers
Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machines
Revise programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions
Observe operation of machines on trial runs to prove programmed instructions
Be familiar with the operation and mechanics of CNC mills
The basic qualifications for the position are :
Must have understanding of basic math
Must be alert, careful, accurate and show judgment
Must have mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and eye
hand coordination
Must have ability to understand and interpret customer blueprints
Must have the ability to understand machine technology and terminology
Must have communication and organizational skills
Ability to analyze complex and diverse information, translate concepts and information into images, identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, develop alternative solutions
Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
Must be proficient with Mastercam
Experience with SolidWorks, is a plus
Education and experience :
High School Diploma
Previous experience in a programming role that provides an understanding of the manufacturing environment and equipment, and how to set program using Mastercam
