Job Responsibilities
Our client, a leading engineering and design consulting firm, is currently seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to perform the following, but not limited to :
Experience in the design of mechanical / HVAC systems as well as sizing and selection of building mechanical equipment such as air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, fans, and terminal devices
Ability to perform numerous engineering calculations including but not limited to HVAC load and ventilation air calculations, psychometrics, pipe flow / pressure drop, and ductwork static pressure
Proficiency in the use of building load calculation software such as Trane Trace required
Experience developing building energy models is desirable but not required
Knowledge of industry codes and standards utilized in MEP industry (ASHRAE, ICC Codes, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.)
Proficiency in AutoCAD required and Revit / BIM experience highly desired
Experience or familiarity with Microstation desired but not required
Ability to develop and write equipment / project specifications
Familiarity with the design of plumbing systems is a bonus
Strong interpersonal skills as position requires not only interaction with internal team members but also clients, vendors, and contractors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required Attributes :
Required Experience : 1 to 7 years
Bachelor"s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Familiarity with functionality and election of industrial
- type power equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers and air compressors
Computer skills required : Standard MS Office Applications, AutoCAD, REVIT / BIM
Preferred Attributes :
PE / EIT Preferred but not required
Knowledge and understanding of psychometrics
Ability to write technical documents in a clear and understandable manner
Familiarity with applicable ASHRAE standards for HVAC and Building Energy Efficiency design and SME B31.3 piping code
