Our client in Hickory NC is seeking a R&D Chemist III to join the team
Duties:
* Recommend, plan, execute, and analyze experiments (both lab and production scale), and evaluate data based on management input.
* Prepare required reports and suggest additional ones that may be beneficial.
* Follow all company Design Control Procedures, Safety Policies, Environmental Policies, and other relevant facility standards.
* Collaborate with team members across the company to meet project objectives and deliver results.
* Participate in all team meetings related to assigned projects.
* Organize and lead additional meetings as needed to ensure project success.
* Recommend relevant external meetings and conferences.
* Engage in self-improvement training as needed.
* Conduct literature searches, including technical papers, patents, and other relevant sources.
* Occasional travel may be required.
* Develop and optimize coating formulations, including evaluating surfactants, dispersants, defoamers, and both inorganic and polymeric fillers to create stable and effective coatings.
Requirements:
* BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
* 3-10 years of experience in an R&D role within the industry.
* Experience in the formulation of solid dispersions is a plus.
* Demonstrated expertise in product development, including the formulation of emulsions and dispersions.
* Proficient in materials analysis and testing techniques, such as thermal analysis, FTIR, GC/MS, ICP, surface science/tribology, particle size analysis, powder flow characterization, adhesive bond characterization, corrosion analysis, SPC (e.g., Ppk/Cpk), root cause analysis, and other failure analysis methodologies.
* Strong data analysis skills with the ability to draw solid conclusions.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficient in relevant software applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar tools.
* Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, as demonstrated by previous experience.
* Ability to understand and apply the Stage Gate process and maintain documentation.
* Skilled in working collaboratively and effectively with other departments and R&D colleagues to achieve successful project commercialization within required timelines.

Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
