Position Overview:
As the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will help lead the design and development of cutting-edge lighting products. You will lead projects and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, industrial design, product management, and manufacturing, to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs and market trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Guide and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting best practices in design and engineering.
- Design & Development: Oversee the mechanical design process from concept to production, ensuring products meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.
- Prototyping: Lead the development of prototypes, conducting testing and validation to ensure performance, durability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate lighting technologies and optimize product performance. Collaborate with product managers to align designs with market needs. Work with assembly and molding to design products for both performance and efficient manufacturing.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, design reviews, and technical reports.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes throughout the design and manufacturing phases to ensure high standards are met.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovative design solutions to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 8 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on consumer electronics or outdoor equipment.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to collaborate effectively are critical.
- Proven experience leading design projects from concept to production.
- Work experience demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for consumer and military products.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and including DFM, DFA, and FEA.
- Familiarity with materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques relevant to lighting products.
- Familiarity with the design of injection molding components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Passion for outdoor activities and an understanding of customer needs in the lighting industry is a plus.
