Full service law firm in Monmouth County is seeking a Direct Hire Accounting Assistant.
The Accounting Assistant will support the financial operations and Bookkeeping Department of the law firm. They will work closely with bookkeeping department, attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals to ensure accurate and compliant financial record-keeping.. This role requires a strong attention to detail, knowledge of legal billing practices, and proficiency in financial software and spreadsheets.
Responsibilities include :
1. Maintain organized financial records, including client trust accounts and general operating accounts. Monitor account balances and reconcile discrepancies.
2. Process and record all firm expenses, including court filing fees, travel expenses, and office supplies. Allocate expenses to appropriate clients or cases.
3. Handle client trust accounts, including depositing funds, disbursing payments, and generating trust account reports to ensure compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
4. Use legal accounting software to maintain client and case information, update billing rates, and track client balances.
5. Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and legal billing practices.
6. Communicate with clients regarding billing inquiries, account status, and payment arrangements. Address client concerns and provide necessary documentation.
7. Assist attorneys and senior staff with special financial projects and tasks as needed.
