Summary/Objective
The Director of Detailing is responsible for managing the Detailing Department and delegating the roles and responsibility of the team members involved in the department. From managing the Job Captains and Detailers while supporting the overall goals the Detailing Dept has established. Coordinating with all PM’s in both Pre-Construction and Construction and developing strategies to keep the schedule on track. Build and grow the department with experienced and trained personnel in order to meet the demand and growth of the company. Continuously improving the processes of the department internally and how it works with the other departments. Reviewing and providing budget Hours per project forecast to completion.
Primary Responsibilities/Functions
1. Involvement and participation in all management meetings any applicable quarterly/annual planning sessions.
2. Lead strategic goals to standardize and streamline product/detailing/connection methodology across all stair/railing projects.
3. Implement Detailing Standards (Detail Library, Models, Weld/Bolt standard, tolerances etc)
4. Submittal Standards aligned with Architectural Design standards for level of quality in details, line weights, layering, and showing adjacent finishes.
5. Oversee training of detailers and job captains on specific critical RFI submissions with attached details clouded. i.e FF to FF Elevations and Benchmarks, Controls, workpoints.
6. Lead strategic goal to fully integrate 3D and BIM modelling for all stair model & detailing.
7. Responsible for assisting in innovative and technically advantageous design solutions and standardization to increase profitability by having more installation efficient designs, and manufacturer compliant formats.
8. Scheduling of internal and external resources (all detailers).
9. Design and R&D conceptual proposals/designs.
10. Budget & Price drafting services within budget provided to Precon Dept
11. Sales Pitch presentation to Client as required. (periodically)
12. Ensure Synergi design/shop drawings/engineering/samples meets and fits within Synergi budget and architectural/structural building design and parameters/specs.
13. Oversee fabrication drawings process and internal checking processes.
14. Oversee AISC QA/QC requirements for all inhouse and vendor fabrication drawings.
15. Schedule all drafting efforts on all projects.
16. Attend all Precon handovers of new projects. (Eng Meetings 1, thru 4 per scroll)
17. Develop, train, recruit all resources for detailers to keep up with growth of company.
18. Fully develop and integrate 3D and BIM coordination into all aspects of drawings process.
19. Coordinate with field dimensioning to obtain timely, accurate field dimensions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
1. Oversight of Job Captains, draftsmen, assistants to ensure activities and compliance with per the project flow chart.
2. Comparative analysis (to prior projects)
3. Constructability & logistical analysis feedback provided to PM/Precon team.
4. Existing conditions analysis (as needed onsite or 3D scan review)
5. Building information modeling
6. Schedule development per project, with automated updates weekly
Required Skills/Attributes

Required Education/Experience
1. Associates Degree in Design/Drafting and/or CAD or similar required
2. Certification of two (2) years training from a vocational training school or two (2) years of college with courses relevant to drafting or engineering; or equivalent work experience
3. 6 years of professional drafting experience
4. 6 years of related experience to our relevant industry of stairs, rails, and glass guardrails
5. 6 years extensive pre-fabrication drafting experience preferred
6. Structural and architectural drafting and detailing experience
7. Proficiency in reading and understanding construction documents and shop drawings
8. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Auto CAD
9. Experience using solid modeling CAD software Inventor or Solidworks or similar understanding of workings
10. Experience with AISC drawing standards
11. Experience with AESS standard finish specifications
12. Experience with IBC codes
13. Experience with weldment practices and methods
14. Experience with logistics
15. Structural and architectural drafting and detailing expertise
