This position is for a Controls Engineer on the commercial side of HVAC, with an emphasis on programming and working with sales. Our client is a privately owned company with over 60 years of experience in the industry. The ideal candidate will have a background in HVAC controls and may come from electrical or mechanical engineering. This is a great opportunity for those who have an engineering background.
Compensation/Salary:
- Junior (2-4 years of experience): $80,000 – $90,000
- Mid-Level (5-6 years of experience): $90,000 – $115,000
- Performance-based bonuses and commission pool opportunities,
Work Schedule:
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST, Monday through Friday, Weekends off***

Position Summary:
The Controls Engineer will work on large-scale HVAC projects, primarily on the commercial side. This role involves programming, system control, troubleshooting, and consulting with customers to resolve issues. The engineer will work closely with the sales division, provide specification reports, and support the sales team. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow into higher roles in engineering, project controls, quality, project management, or operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program and maintain HVAC control systems (SNAP, ALC, OEM, etc.)
- Provide technical support to the sales division, assisting with troubleshooting and consultations
- Develop specification reports and product exports
- Program controls systems and back-end coding
- Maintain and analyze project schedules using Primavera P6
- Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and performance goals
- Support resource allocation and planning with heavy equipment management
Must-Have Requirements:
- HVAC Controls: Strong background in HVAC systems and controls, especially from a (ALC, OEM)
- Ability to work and code in programming tools (ex. SNAP OR C )
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to consult and troubleshoot with customers
- Experience with HVAC control panels and programming temperature settings for commercial HVAC systems
- Ability to work with sales teams and provide technical guidance
Education Requirements:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background preferred
- Bachelor/Associates degree in Engineering or related field****
Experience:
- 2-6 years of experience in controls or related fields
Industry Experience:
- HVAC Controls, HVAC Manufacturing, or Wholesale
