About the Role
As the HR Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in driving HR initiatives and supporting day-to-day operations within our laboratory-focused organization. The ideal candidate will bring proven HR experience within life sciences, biotechnology, or related laboratory-based settings, and will thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers, offering guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to a scientific work environment.
- Oversee the employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
- Maintain and update confidential employee records, including personnel files, training certifications, and compliance documentation, aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and implement HR programs such as benefits administration, training and development, safety initiatives, and recognition programs.
- Support payroll processing, leave management, and timekeeping accuracy; ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
- Manage and track HR metrics, producing reports and presentations for leadership using Excel, PowerPoint, and shared digital platforms.
- Partner with laboratory leaders and staff to foster a positive and inclusive culture, ensuring HR practices align with scientific and operational needs.
- Assist with administrative duties, including calendaring, planning meetings, event coordination, and procurement of office or laboratory supplies.
- Identify process improvements for greater efficiency within HR operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; PHR/SHRM-CP certification a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in the life sciences, biotechnology, or laboratory sector.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices in regulated industries.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as experience with HRIS systems and shared drives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience supporting laboratory staff or scientific personnel.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards in research or laboratory environments.
