Janitorial Cleaner

Job Summary
The Head Custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all building occupants. This position is responsible for overseeing custodial staff, ensuring that all cleaning and maintenance tasks are performed to the highest standards. The Head Custodian will manage daily operations related to custodial services, including floor care, facilities maintenance, and general cleaning duties across residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff to ensure effective cleaning and maintenance operations.
• Perform regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.
• Manage floor care activities including buffing, waxing, and deep cleaning of various surfaces.
• Oversee the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assist with residential painting projects as needed to maintain aesthetic appeal.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols in all cleaning operations.
• Provide training and support to custodial staff on best practices in commercial and industrial cleaning techniques.
• Respond promptly to any custodial-related issues or emergencies that arise within the facility.

Requirements

• Proven experience in custodial or facilities maintenance roles is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies used in custodial work.
• Familiarity with floor care processes such as buffing and waxing is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with cleaning duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness standards.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with staff and building occupants.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for transportation between multiple sites if necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
