Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Custodian to oversee and manage custodial operations within our facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial cleaning and facilities maintenance, ensuring that all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This role requires leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all staff and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the custodial team, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to cleaning schedules.
- Perform commercial cleaning tasks including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, restrooms, and common spaces.
- Manage floor care activities including carpet extraction, scrubber, buffing and maintaining all types of flooring surfaces.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards; report issues promptly for resolution.
- Train new custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; ensure all tools are in good working condition.
- Assist with commercial cleaning projects as needed, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide back up services during projects or high-traffic times to maintain cleanliness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning or custodial services is required; experience in facilities maintenance is a plus.
- Knowledge of floor care techniques
- Own transportation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to lead a team and interact with facility users.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
