What are the responsibilities and job description for the Datacenter Technician position at Synergy Interactive?
Responsibilities:
- Install servers and network equipment into cabinets and racks
- Perform CAT6 and fiber optic patch cabling installations and support
- Troubleshoot Layer 1, 2, and 3 LAN connections
- Conduct break/fix hardware maintenance on mission-critical systems (e.g., BIOS updates, hard drives, memory, RAID controllers)
- Measure cabinet power load and consumption
- Manage inventory for servers, components, and cables using DCIM software
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of operations, best practices, and procedures
- Independently execute projects as needed
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience:
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a large-scale data center (not desktop support or help desk)
- Experience with physical hardware installations, server movements, and structured cabling
- Familiarity with fiber optics, LAN connections, and break/fix hardware
- Ability to perform complex wiring installations (including overhead cable routing and server cabinet management)
- Must be comfortable working the 2nd shift (4PM-12AM) on a regular basis
- Must have reliable transportation (limited public transit options to the site)
