We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Compliance Specialist to join our team and play a vital role in our journey toward achieving and maintaining compliance with leading industry frameworks, including SOC 2, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, and others. This position is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of software engineering and a strong interest in cybersecurity and compliance.
You will work closely with our cybersecurity engineer to implement secure practices and help ensure our systems, processes, and documentation align with key security and compliance standards. This is a hands-on, learning-focused role that offers an excellent opportunity to grow within a supportive and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, and others.
- Support documentation, tracking, and reporting efforts related to compliance and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with the engineering and IT teams to ensure alignment between technical controls and compliance requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments, control evaluations, and remediation tracking.
- Help maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and training materials.
- Monitor compliance controls and support internal audit activities.
- Research evolving regulatory and compliance requirements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- You have a working knowledge of at least one or more security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, etc.)—direct experience is a plus, but not required.
- You have a foundational understanding of software engineering practices—such as version control, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, or secure coding principles.
- Youʼre detail-oriented and enjoy organizing information and solving problems with structure and clarity.
- You have a genuine interest in cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance.
- Youʼre a strong communicator who enjoys working with both technical and non-technical teams.
- You are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow in a collaborative setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in a technical, IT, or compliance-related role (internships and relevant project work count!).
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, GRC platforms, or cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Basic understanding of security concepts such as access controls, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
- Bachelorʼs degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related)—or equivalent experience.
Salary : $80,000 - $100,000
