Job Summary:
The Metadata Coordinator is responsible for managing, editing, and curating metadata to ensure accurate and timely publication. They collaborate with internal teams to maintain data integrity, enhance discoverability, and support content organization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Metadata Editing & Quality Control: Review, fact-check, and organize metadata, ensuring consistency with internal style guides and industry best practices.
- Content Organization & Structuring: Maintain and update metadata relationships such as Table of Contents, content hierarchies, and series groupings for accurate online display.
- Research & Curation: Conduct research using internal and third-party sources to validate metadata accuracy and improve classification.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including content operations, editorial, and product teams, to align metadata strategies with business objectives.
- Data Entry & Management: Ensure metadata is correctly formatted, tagged, and entered into content management systems.
- SEO & Discoverability: Apply best practices for metadata optimization to enhance search visibility and user experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., humanities, information management, publishing, or related discipline).
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in metadata management, copy-editing, fact-checking, or publishing.
- Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style (or other relevant style guides).
- Experience in web-based publishing environments and knowledge of SEO principles.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and content management systems.
- Familiarity with web-based research tools, metadata standards, and database management.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
