Position: Technology Risk Manager / Project Manager
Position Overview:
This role is for a Technology Risk Manager / Project Manager, supporting two U.S. banks that operate as independent national banks. The position focuses on monitoring and managing technology risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing remediation activities within a structured risk management framework.
The Technology Risk Manager will play a critical role in tracking, reporting, and mitigating technology risks while contributing to the overall evolution and execution of the bank’s technology risk program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the banks' business models and technology services.
- Analyze applications to determine banking impact, capturing detailed rationale through stakeholder collaboration.
- Coordinate with development teams, technology control groups, security officers, and operational risk teams to align with program objectives.
- Track technology risks and influence the prioritization of remediation activities.
- Prepare clear and concise presentation materials for technology governance forums and board meetings.
- Keep management informed on progress and key issues related to technology programs.
- Contribute to regulatory and risk initiatives, providing risk exposure reports to support informed decision-making.
- Assist in responding to regulatory requests related to technology and risk management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in financial or banking services, with practical knowledge of banking principles, products, and regulatory environments.
- Strong understanding of technology and information security processes.
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (data import, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizations and build relationships.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, especially when handling confidential matters.
- Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as Heightened Standards for Large Banks and 12 CFR 30 Safety and Soundness Standards.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience working in a large bank.
- Industry certifications such as CISM, CISA, or CRISC.
- Familiarity with FFIEC IT Handbooks and related regulations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, internal controls, and industry frameworks (NIST, ITIL, CobiT, ISO 27001).
- Proficiency in Jira for project and task management.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Economics, or Finance.
