Job Description

To achieve this, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Human Resources Team is looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst in Greensboro, NC, to aid in the processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls. This role involves ensuring all tax obligations are met and that tax reporting is completed promptly and accurately. Additionally, it is essential to guarantee that all employees receive their payments correctly and on time, adhering to current pay practices and regulations.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for supporting the timely and accurate administration of bi-weekly and monthly US company payroll processing.
- Liaise with multiple vendors including the payroll provider’s time and attendance, tax services, garnishment team as well as our off-shore support team via multiple ticketing platforms to ensure accurate data processing and issue resolution.
- Prepare, reconcile, and facilitate post process reporting in support of Finance and Total Rewards (payroll funding, GL, HSA/FSA, Credit Union, Union Dues, United Way and PAC) including retirement funding for US and Puerto Rico with our retirement vendors.
- Manage employee, manager and Human Resources Business Partner inquiries through payroll knowledge and superior customer service.
- Responsible for ensuring that all tax obligations are met, and all tax reporting is filed timely and accurately by working with the payroll provider’s Tax Team to file and communicate with various federal, state, and local tax agencies.
- Review, analyze and communicate all tax notices in coordination with the payroll provider’s Tax Team.
- Apply for tax authority ids as needed and communicate them to the payroll provider’s Tax Team.
- Responsible for quarterly and annual payroll reconciliations including employee W2s.
- Provide instruction to the payroll provider’s tax support for employee tax adjustments and request amended tax returns/W-2Cs as needed.
- Administer the request of pay corrections with the payroll provider to adjust pay history as needed including entries due to overpayment, incorrect taxation due to resident/work location, etc.
- Ensure timely preparation of payment/reporting for various state agencies not supported by the payroll provider.
- Prepare on demand ad hoc reports for Corporate Tax, various state/local tax agencies and attorneys as needed.
- Support analysis of payroll accounting issues using payroll data and General Ledger systems.
- Administer the payroll provider’s timekeeping platform for all non-exempt employees including accurate timecard reporting, approving and committing for payroll processing, corrections, employee/manager training, access issues, vacation accruals, annual holiday updates, etc.
- Manage multiple complex pay and entitlement policy configurations including collaboration with site leaders, HR Business Partners and our payroll provider.
- Review and address results from recurring employee audits related to employee tax withholding to ensure withholding accuracy.
- Advise and support NA Payroll and NA HR Operations projects as needed.
- Manage off-cycle processing to minimize costs through coordination with Payroll Team and strategic planning.
- Manage employee garnishments, wage attachments and child support orders in coordination with the payroll provider’s garnishment team.
- Complete garnishing agency interrogatories and wage verifications as needed.
- Create and maintain local work instructions and job aids for various processes.
- Back-up and cross-train with NA Payroll Team members as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of experience in full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing
- CCP certification a plus
- Experience with payroll tax returns, tax deposits, W2 preparation, etc. required
- In-depth working knowledge of federal, state and local payroll practices/regulation
- Experience with multiple payroll/HCM platforms including Dayforce/Workday a plus
- Advanced MS Office/Excel skills required including pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
