About the Role:
Synolo Therapeutics is seeking an innovative, self-motivated, and team-oriented Scientist or Senior Scientist in Biologics Discovery & Antibody Characterization with a passion for discovering and developing novel medicines and who thrives working in a fast-paced startup team. In this role, you will help conduct in-house biologics discovery and characterize multi-specific antibody drug candidates. You will support our cross-functional teams and be a key contributor to our drug discovery and development programs. As a member of a rapidly growing and very engaged team, you will help us in our mission to develop novel therapeutics to improve patients’ lives.
\n- As a member of our in-house biologics team, drive research activities, achieve project milestones, and advance platform development for biologics discovery and multi-specific antibody engineering.
- Analyze antibody sequences and design antibody libraries using immune or synthetic sources (including ML or AI-generated datasets), followed by experimental isolation of antibodies with desired properties.
- Optimize multi-specific antibody leads through humanization or affinity maturation.
- Engineer and refine multi-specific antibody constructs to maximize functionality.
- Communicate findings to project teams and cross-functional groups to foster collaboration and drive project success.
- Comprehensive knowledge of canonical antibody sequence classes and structures, including experience with alternative formats such as scFv’s and VHH’s.
- Practical expertise in yeast or phage display techniques for antibody engineering, encompassing library construction, panning/sorting, and sequence analysis, OR hands-on experience with B cell sorting/sequencing workflows.
- Proficiency in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and its applications for B cell workflows and library selections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships within cross-functional teams.
- Scientist: PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 0-3 years of relevant experience, MS with 5 years, or BS/BA 8 years of relevant industry experience.
- Senior Scientist: PhD with 3 years of relevant experience, MS with 8 years, or BS/BA with 12 years of relevant industry experience.
- Title will be commensurate with experience.
- Familiarity with immunization protocols and downstream antibody discovery workflows.
- Experience with biophysical characterization techniques such as BLI, SPR, DSF, and HPLC-based methods.
- Experience in the biotech industry, with a focus on biologics discovery.
