Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
Ten (10) years of banking experience in credit, credit review, and/or risk management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Executes the design, build and operations of Synovus' risk infrastructure and tools for commercial and consumer risk rating processes across the enterprise. Develops comprehensive model documentation according to regulatory standards.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Develops high-level risk rating strategies.
- Inventories, assesses and coordinates current and future development of other risk rating tools (e.g., templates, guidelines).
- Coordinates and manages risk rating governance, training, communication, policy, reporting and technology initiatives.
- Drives understanding and use of risk rating methodologies and tools to better support monitoring activities.
- Chairs the Risk Rating Council and interacts with Risk Committee, executive management, bank staff, regulators and external consultants.
- Interacts with other bank departments or processes reliant on risk rating output, including capital, ALLL, and pricing.
- Develops and manage processes to measure and assess performance of advanced risk identification and ranking criteria/parameters.
- Coordinate with third parties to obtain or build obligor PD models and LGD processes.
- Manages annual validations of risk rating models, including implementing calibrations as needed.
- Monitors control process to ensure risk rating accuracy on loan systems.
- Manages vendor relationships, including monitoring service level agreements.
- Monitors risk grade triggers and migration to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
